Hibiscus 101

  • Native to Hawaii, China, Japan and the Pacific Islands

  • Commonly used for its medicinal and healing properties


  • Packed with potent antioxidants

  • Rich in Vitamin C

  • Reduces and moderates blood pressure

  • Combats bacteria and parasites

  • Decreases internal inflammation

  • Tart and tangy

  • Available in liquid extracts, powder, tea, dried petals or raw form


  • Lightly rinse petals with cold water before use

  • Add 1tbs of petals per serving to a small saucepan of boiling water

  • Add ingredients of your choice (traditionally made with sugar, citrus peel, cinnamon stick)

  • Boil until water is dark red (about 15-20 minutes)

  • Can be served as a hot tea or an iced tea
